2021 Second Quarter Newsletter:

April:
The Spring Golf Tournament took place April 21st.  Thank you to all the Teams that participated and the Sponsors that made it possible. Also, the Golf Committee did an outstanding job!! 
 
The Scholarship Committee met April 14th to review and discuss the applicants and award the scholarships.
 
The Board of Directors and Legislative Committee held meetings for the first time in the Conference Room since February 2020. Meetings have been held, but either thru Zoom or with social distancing.
 
May:
The first General Membership Meeting of 2021 was held May 11th at the OBX Brewing Station. This was the first meeting for OBHBA Members since January 2020. Besides having a good time seeing fellow Members, two Members were recognized for outstanding achievement by OBHBA President Vaughan Robinson:
 
  • Blair Meads, Reliant Construction was recognized with the 2019 President’s Award. 
 
  • Kaye Jones, TowneBank Mortgage was honored with the 2019 Clifford A Neal Humanitarian Award for her dedication and outstanding service to the Outer Banks Home Builders and unselfishly donating her time and talents in the Community to promote and help others.
 
May 12th the first Continuing Education Class of 2021 was held at the OBHBA Office with Instructor Erik Anderson.
 
In the month of May, the OBHBA Scholarship Committee awarded four scholarships to the following students: 

           Ashley Winborne, Jaden Clary, Johan P. Briones and Noah Goetsch
 
 
June:
June 8th Member Alex Acevedo with Royal Building Products presented a Lunch & Learn at the OBHBA Office. 
 
June 16th a NCLBGC CE Class was held at the OBHBA Office with Instructor Robert Privott.
 
Reminders: NCHBA Build-PAC Reverse Raffle & Pig Pickin will be July 23rd. The 29th Parade of Homes will be in person October 7th-10th.
 

 
Member Spotlight Brian McDonald with One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning and Elite Insurance Agency:

Brian McDonald has been a member of the Outer Banks Home Builders Association since 1998.
 
He served on the Board of Directors from 2002 through 2006 and was Treasurer of the Association from 2011 through 2017.
 
He has served on numerous committees including the Green Building Committee, the Legislative Affairs Committee, the Member’s Guide Committee and the Golf Tournament Committee.
 
Brian said, "Being a member of the association has been a great pleasure, it’s helped me grow as a business owner and I’ve made a lot of friends”.
 
Brian has received numerous awards over the years, including The Associate Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017, which has only been given to a select few members.
 
Brian encourages his fellow members to become more involved with our association and join at least one committee. He said it will benefit you personally and professionally.
 
In his professional career, Brian is President and co-owner of the Elite Insurance Agency, President and owner of One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, President and co-owner of Equipment Resources and a Co-Owner of Atlantic Heating & Cooling.
 
He is an experienced and licensed HVAC professional with a wealth of knowledge and over 35 years of experience.
 
Brian received his Insurance Broker’s license in 2017 and enjoys working with Jackie Chunn, his partner and helping their clients protect their personal and business assets.
